Athletic, Inverted Triangle and Strawberry Shape
If you are an Athletic, or Inverted Triangle Body Shape, this means your shoulder measurement is noticeably wider than your hip measurement. You have limited waist definition, narrow hips and usually great legs. The Strawberry Body has wider shoulders and torso and should also follow these guidelines.
Your Styling Goals
To balance out the hip measurement with the shoulder, to streamline the top half of the body, add volume at the hip, emphasise the waist where possible and create a silhouette.
How?
Keep the shoulder line simple and without any volume (eg avoid shoulder padding, puffy shoulders or horizontal necklines
Break up the shoulder line with halterneck, racerback and assymetric neckline shapes
Elongate the upper body with v and scoop necks
Create waist shape by choosing tops or dresses with side ruching.
Wear mid-width belts and match the hardware to your necklace and to the detail in your bag and footwear, to draw the eye upwards and downwards.
Fully tuck or French tuck tops to create silhouette
Wear neat fitting tops with looser fit trousers / skirts
Trousers and skirts which have volume at hip level, including side pockets, pleating and pintucks
Choose dresses which nip at the waist
Avoid baggy jumpers and jackets
Avoid skinny jeans which create a triangle effect
Wear statement footwear to draw the eye downwards
Create balance with the upper body including side pockets, pleating and pintucks
As you have great legs and don’t want to create an overall bulky look, try to keep the top half uncluttered and clean-lined, with longer top and hemlines - jackets should be hip or thigh length.
